LAKE
CAROLINA

neighborhood

Lake Carolina is a vibrant, diverse community northeast of downtown Columbia that truly has something for everyone — from starter homes to city-feel townhomes to large waterfront estates.

Sidewalks and bike paths connect all of Lake Carolina’s more than 30 individual neighborhoods to schools, parks, playgrounds, and pools. It’s a development where neighbors wave hello to each other, kids ride their bikes or walk to neighborhood schools and joggers make heavy use of the paths and nature trails throughout the 1,850-acre development.

The development is home to distinct communities, each offering its own vibe. The town center, known as Harborside, offers a nostalgic, small-town feel, with quaint homes and nearly 40 businesses – including coffee shops, professional offices, restaurants, and small retailers. Neighbors gather for picnics and small concerts on the greenspace near an Amish-built gazebo. The development features all sorts of amenities and community events, including farmers markets, oyster roasts, 5K races, and a wine and food festival. There’s even a benefit Polar Bear Plunge in the lake each January.

Lake Carolina draws its name from the man-made lake that is the centerpiece of the master-planned community, with residents free to water ski, paddleboard, sail, and fish on the 200-acre lake. And with more than 6 miles of shorefront, all of the neighborhoods have available and easy access to the water.
