The Moore Company Opens Devine Street Office!

The Moore Company today opened the doors to its newly-renovated office located at 2931 Devine Street at the corner of Sims Avenue in Columbia, S.C. The new office — which for 25 years was home to Gudmundson & Buyck Jewelers — took about four months to transform into what’s now an updated, functional real estate office.

The design, we think, is unlike any other real estate firm in Columbia. The rustic interior uses lots of reclaimed material from the area. For example, the walls of the lobby are partly covered in reclaimed lap siding from a 1920s Shandon Bungalow that owners Graeme Moore and Justin Drafts are renovating. Old barn wood from an old heart pine lumber yard complements the lap siding. Stained concrete floors run throughout the entire building.

Copper, barnwood, reclaimed beams and chop block were used in the construction of the reception desk where our closing and listing coordinators keep transactions moving along smoothly.

The office features sliding barn doors and sleek lighting as well as stained concrete floors throughout. A large parking lot in the back (on the Sims Avenue side of the building) provides up to 20 spaces for parking, and an additional five on-street parking spots are available.

A coffee/wine bar is a central part of the lobby area, and thanks to Jamie Alford at Stock Building Supply for the bar’s design and cabinet materials.

Lots of light spills into the conference room thanks to Andrea Reynold’s mom who kindly provided for a giant new window in the front of the building that now looks out toward Devine Street.

A piece of an old bowling alley lane was reclaimed by Graeme and Justin who, along with local carpenters Scott Murrie and Steve Voorhies, used it in the design and construction of our conference room table.

We would also like to give a huge shoutout to Asheley Scott and her architectural firm 1×1 Design on Pickens Street in Columbia for their speedy and thorough help with designing the new layout for our building.

Thanks to Chris Kirk and the entire crew at Kirk Commercial Construction for their superior work during the renovation. They literally stripped the inside of the building down to its four existing exterior walls. They put it all back together in a professional and timely manner, and we could not be happier with their work.

Finally, thanks to all of our clients for their patience while we were forced to work out of homes while we got up and running. We’re beyond thrilled to finally be into the new office, and we look forward to becoming part of the Devine Street community for many years to come.
