Columbia’s Housing Prices Remain Strong Despite Inventory Loosening

Here’s The Moore Company’s monthly analysis of the housing market across the Columbia, S.C., metropolitan area which includes Richland and Lexington Counties.

Prices continue to show month-over-month and year-over-year growth almost across the board, while inventory marketwide is showing signs of loosening. However, the housing inventory remains tight in many of Columbia’s most popular in-town neighborhoods.

Remember some of these month-to-month comparisons aren’t as reliable as looking at YTD trends. For example, a $1,000,000+ home sold in Olde Woodlands in October 2016 which is way above average for that area. Meanwhile in the Rosewood area, for instance, there were a couple of foreclosures that drove the prices down during the month of October.
